Push/Pull on the Evo 212+

#1cigarzPosted 9/2/2014 7:20:47 AM
I have the Cooler Master Evo 212+ I see a ton of builds with push/pull on it (I was going to buy antoher stock cooler master 120mm) and I don't see how they can do that when the unit only comes with 1 set of clips. Do they screw it to it or what?

The unit has two sets of clips. One on the fan it ships with and another in the box.

This.

The clips on the stock fan can be removed and used on another fan.

How much lower does a second fan cause the temps to be? Also, I like my machine quiet. I have the fan plugged into the CPU fan controller on the motherboard. There is only one. So where do people plug that other fan?

Seems you get about 5c difference

This one doesn't show much of a difference

Some motherboard have two cpu fan headers but you can buy a pwm splitter.

This is what I bought to supplement 2 fans. and I've seen anywhere from 5-10c difference. I know just putting my fan to push on my 212 it lowered everything about 5c. so I figure a nice pulling fan each set to about 50% should get me to 4.5ghz around 65c load.

With my current setup I can't hear my computer when its on, half the time i have to look again to make sure it did turn on lol. so a second fan both running at half speed should be fine. also just bought 3 120's to pull air out the top so i should be set.

I have mine push/pull and barely noticed a difference, maybe a couple degrees. My case has pretty excellent airflow, though, so it may help others more than me.
