Now that I've taken the time to read more about this whole controversy I'm not so surprised about it. It's really the logical evolution.

Gamers have for a long while cried foul about the press being biased and untrustworthy, I recall one particular IGN article defending EA and it was literally as close to IGN performing text-based fellatio as they could write without getting sexual.

Then when the Mass Effect 3 thing happened a lot of the press turned on gamers with the fallacious "entitled" argument.

And then a while later it started to come out that EA and Microsoft both were buying out youtubers for positive coverage. There was also that thing where Ubi gave a bunch of journalists tablets.

And now with this latest ****storm, it's little wonder that gamers are starting to mistrust the gaming press.
We need to find some dirt on AAA developers/publishers for this to really blow up, but they do a better job at covering their tracks.

they certainly avoid going on twitter and telling their potentially customers they are mouth breathing neckbeards!

I hardly ever visited these sites before now... Usually I'd see a clickbait article on Joketaku and maybe I'd go look but their whole website makes me hate navigating the site...It seems like they change up what they show you based on what you clicked last so sometimes you'd see what might have been an interesting article but if you clicked on something else (maybe because it looked more interesting) then the first one was gone. EVEN WORSE... you'd click on one and get taken to the other sites.... I don't need/want to see Jezebel, iO9, Gawker, or any of their other related crap sites. I barely wanted to see Kotaku in the first place.

Also you get stuff like this too:

Nice unbiased reporting there guys...

I may go as far as to block the sites at the hosts file level just to ensure I don't accidentally give them a click (even though I already use adblock, noscript, ghostery, privacy badger, and anything else that prevents them from getting anything from me). I guess even going to the site still helps them somehow (maybe adding to visitor numbers so that they can use that to get advertisers to pay more for ads?)

At the same time I may actually turn adblock off on sites that are trustworthy. Not sure how much good that does since I have almost never clicked on an ad willingly. It was usually because the ad was designed to look like a link, or it was placed too close to a link, or some other trickery.

You made my point for me. What you responded to me with was exactly how the a lot of the press responded to their "stakeholders" Like I said, it was a trickle before the flood. Press turning on gamers by calling them names.

I see your point.

I still think people took the ME3 thing way too far, though. I want to see what the developers create, not what the developers think their fans want to see.

Damn. I hope Paul can recover from the backlash. He even opened the door for skepticism by saying "if true". Just trying to get people to talk about it is getting him attacked and blacklisted. Shouldn't be this way.

If people think he's wrong they should explain why the evidence is fabricated or misinterpreted. Not this.

Well a lot of people have actually shot way up in popularity via this whole thing. He's one of them....He also posted a video expressing his thoughts and explaining things a bit more, but it was bit on the rambling side...I can totally understand how he feels though... it's one thing to think "I gave it my all and I lost" and something else to think "I lost because I'm not one of the IN-Crowd".

Actually he just posted a new video earlier today on the matter:
http://youtu.be/wmBYneGuoy0

if we're being completely honest here I don't think it's honest for me to stand by the idea that I have been "run out of the game industry."

Maybe he overreacted/panicked a bit.

Not completely related (It's not gaming related) but some more stuff about how Gawker media has a double-standard against men.

It's a Maddox Video (trigger warning? hehe) where he talks about how people are going off on how spider woman is portrayed yet nobody cares when Spiderman gets the same treatment... It's only offensive when women do it I guess? More SJW bull s***.

"In a world where a woman is injected with radioactive spider blood and develops superhuman speed, agility, and stamina, the hardest thing to believe apparently is that no real fabric could possibly adhere to her contours like that."

My sides.
