Personally I think these threads would be better served for the indie-gaming board. At the very least it would reduce the amount of s***posting from randoms. --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjD6wo9BIyM
Because probably the mods were on auto-pilot (as always) and didn't find PC anywhere in the topic.
This is most likely why. The way this topic is phrased has much more to do with games journalism, which is really more a topic for NGG. Since so much of this revolves around PC gaming, I figure it's fine to keep it up. But you really want to keep it in terms of how it relates to the PC community. When some of these threads turn into multiple pages of tabloid gossip and tangents about sex and 'SJWs', and the OP has next to nothing to do with PC gaming specifically, that's why they tend to get deleted.
If I made a topic like this, the first thing I would do is stress all of the PC relevant aspects, like that the scandal started because of a PC game review which rocked naive gamers to their very core and shook their trust in the world of the assumed-incorruptible video games journalism industry.
In terms of keeping the OP on topic, some of the videos I included in the OP link IGF and Indiecade to this whole debacle which is a pretty big deal for indie devs. And a majority of indie devs these days have their games published on PC, along with a majority of their coverage coming from gaming outlets and word of mouth instead of things like banner/video advertising that larger devs/publishers do. --- "Too bad you can't reload your game and try again." The main point of these topics is to bring awareness to the issue. Hiding it on the indie-gaming board wouldn't do that. I didn't know there even was an indie gaming board.
It also involves more than just indie games when even middle tier and above developers are afraid to speak out against this for fear of being ostracized by the press and other developers. --- "Because I realize I want you. Guts." | "....... Are you a ****?" http://steamcommunity.com/id/Malicii/
Also this indie dev is facing the same kind of "blackballing" from the industry because he dared to speak out against it. It's really sad. This is how they keep you in line. You dare speak against them? I guess you don't ever want to work again. --- http://raptr.com/badge/arleas/uc.png http://www.speedtest.net/result/3635582762.png
I said it before in an earlier topic: this is basically payola/greed/corruption (google payola if you have no idea what that is)
This is exactly what it is, and why so many people in indie / journalism are working 24-7 to cover it up. --- http://i.imgur.com/sUtdyzN.png « Software Engineer » There ain't no getting off this train we're on
