Gaming Journalism scandal 2014, GamerGate cont'd

After that video exposing the IGF as a fraud, some game devs that submitted to it in the past are starting to get a bit angry and demanding answers. I wonder if they'll actually get a straight answer. I'm surprised I haven't seen MORE devs upset about this.

I mean, if I paid $95 to enter a contest and it turned out they were giving the awards to people with the right connections rather than the best game, I'd be livid.

That's the tweet that got Paul Hubans blackballed I think...

So she's a member of the cult.... Great

Can we not label things like this? We can just say "the PR agency that runs workshops on how it's okay to hurt anyone who might disagree with you or stand in the way of your objectives."

Whoa, they had to PAY $95? That is steep and suspicious to me.

So unless someone else can properly explain that to me...? (I mean besides the fact that it weeds joke entries out)

Yeah, I think it's supposed to be like the $100 entry fee for greenlight, but other than that I don't know why they'd need it (other than maybe to help fund the prizes for the winners).

Entry Fee: $95

I'm not against the fee, I imagine they need money to run the event.

What I am against is for the judges to the contest as their personal beach party

It's so that they can ensure that the games are judged fairly, obviously!

From https://therottingcartridge.wordpress.com/2012/02/22/whats-wrong-with-the-igf/
Eight (8) judges were assigned to Kale In Dinoland. Of those judges, 1 didnít install the game or respond to any of our invitations (which we had to send multiple times before judges joined). 3 judges didnít play the game.

I'd say that's about $100 worth of fairness right there.

>Cash prizes

No wonder the contest is rigged. Good publicity should be prize enough. IIRC, Sundance doesn't hand out prize money.

Damn. I hope Paul can recover from the backlash. He even opened the door for skepticism by saying "if true". Just trying to get people to talk about it is getting him attacked and blacklisted. Shouldn't be this way.

If people think he's wrong they should explain why the evidence is fabricated or misinterpreted. Not this.

Sorry, no room for open-mindedness or disagreement in this creative industry.

Keep up the good fight!
This is an act of utter barbarity!
