I won't be, until reasonable hardware exists to run it at well above 60fps and there are 120hz+ monitors for 4K resolutions. Framerate is much more important than an incremental increase in resolution that's not going to be supported by geometry/textures of appropriate complexity in the first place.
A decade's a long time bro. 1440p is already starting to become the new standard for most high end gamers, and 4K will follow within the next few years. 10 years from now if you are running a 1080 monitor you will be completely out of date. It would be like someone still using a standard definition tube monitor to game on right now. You can do it, but it's pretty stupid to.
4K will definitely be the common standard ten years from now, where most / all high end gamers use it or can run it. It's already not that far out of reach
