Hell, even quad Titans won't max "every" game at 4k acceptably.

hot damn

are you considering 30 fps unacceptable?

For a lot of games, yes, because running 30 fps means you'll be dipping into the 20's and teens, which can cause jerkiness. I'm not saying it's unplayable, just that it's not typically considered acceptable, particularly for shooters.

Crysis 3 will get about 10 FPS on a single 780, that's the average, not the low. Two will be about 18, 3 will likely be about 21, the 4th will push it to 22-23, again, average and not the lows. Multi gpu scaling past 2 is awful and not worth it unless you already had the cards for productivity reasons.

And before anyone chimes in with "the 780 isn't a Titan" no it's not, they're actually faster in some cases. Not a Titan black, but the original.

Looks like we will have to wait a few years. For now, I'll stick to maxing out all games at 1080p with my GTX 750 Ti.

750Ti maxes games in 1080p less well than 780Ti does in 4k tbh.

I'm not convinced TC is operating on the same definition of "max" as anyone else... :P

As someone with a 750 ti, I get fine FPS on all my games. But I play tf2, minecraft (untested) Garry's mod sometimes, cs:go. Nothing really hard to run.

SIDE NOTE: I never dip below 170 FPS on cs:go, so I wanted to limit FPS to 132. Should be rock solid, right? Nope, now my average FPS is 110. Wtf? Okay I guess, I'll lower it to 66. Now my average is 55! What the hell? Is there any way not to have source be stupid and reduce my FPS just for capping it?

I'm running Max Payne 3 at a constant 60 FPS in 1080p. Now that is pretty amazing. I knew this card was great...

Max Payne 3 is pretty old. 780Ti should do it in 4k just fine if 750Ti is handling it in 1080p.

As for capping Source, it has to do with the way framerate capping works within the game engine. You can cap it with an external program like DXTory for better results, but you'll get the occasional stutter no matter what. Just a thing with the engine.
