Lol, my old PSP of 7 years old has no dead pixels, lots of screen scratches, but no pixel damage. I just got this new PSP for my birthday last month, received it about 3 weeks ago, I haven't really played with it much yet cause I get nervous with new possessions because I tend to handle everything I like like a worship altar. Are dead pixels normal like are they potentially dangerous? Do they bust out at times or? Its only 1 I noticed and its probably from the people who shipped it to Gamestop maybe? All I know is that its too late to exchange. Would you just be alright with it or? --- RJP THE MVP OF MVPS ''We've managed to avoid drowning!''-Raiden
That's up to you to decide, TC. Me, I would probably slowly lose my mind over that dead pixel because I'm like that. >.<
I've had dead pixels (around the center-left of the screen) on the following PSPs during my time of ownership: PSP-2000 Felicia Blue (1 dead pixel near middle of screen) PSP-2000 Mint Green (this was really annoying as there were 2-3 dead pixels) PSP-3000 White/Blue* (1 "dead" pixel around center-left of the screen) * The PSP-3000 one is unique because when viewed at different angles, it does not look like a dead pixel but a speck of dust trapped underneath the faceplate when it was manufactured. Other times, it makes me think it is a dead pixel. But I cannot completely verify this and most times I just don't care. Nothing is perfect. If a dead pixel really, really annoyed me I'd probably just replace the screen, but even those may contain some, so it boils down to a question of Is it really worth it? for people. Of course, personally, none of this matters if I ever got a Used PSP system, which I would completely change screen, shell, buttons etc for the cheap. --- My Rare Two-Toned PSP-3000 Import Collection: White/Blue (JPN)(Main), Black/Red (JPN), Red/Black (JPN) and Sky Blue/Marine Blue (Asia).
Well, thats what it mostly looks like is a piece of dust under the screen. It doesn't interfere accept for when I fixate on it lol. Mine is kind of in the center but on the right and barely in view cause its closer to the edge. --- RJP THE MVP OF MVPS ''We've managed to avoid drowning!''-Raiden

As long as your games, music, videos etc work and it is not a GLARING "HEY I AM A DEAD PIXEL LOOK AT ME" issue, ignore it. After reading your first post again I have to say this. I much rather have a dead pixel or two than a completely scratched screen/faceplate/backplate. Since my PSPs are all imports and rare colors, it is basically impossible to replace unless I bought a second of the same color. If it was a dead pixel, a new screen would solve the issue. I am not a fan of the typical black and white colors. Japan/Asia only colors FTW, see my sig. --- My Rare Two-Toned PSP-3000 Import Collection: White/Blue (JPN)(Main), Black/Red (JPN), Red/Black (JPN) and Sky Blue/Marine Blue (Asia).
I have OCD and Aspergers so I kind of get a bit too hysterical over possessions sometimes. I'm trying to battle in my mind not to be as bothered by petty things like I do lol. --- RJP THE MVP OF MVPS ''We've managed to avoid drowning!''-Raiden

Ever since I got my PS2 I have treated my games and systems like the Holy Grails, becoming more of a collector than a gamer now. It is not uncommon for me to purchase 2 copies of a game (1 to open, 1 to keep Mint and Perfect). If I never sold/gave away the majority of my PSPs, I would have had 10 of them total :D Even with the PSP I am using, after several days of play, I would clean the buttons, nubstick and case. Even if I wash my hands dry before playing, over time the buttons get that greasy feeling thanks to the body's oils. I am a neat freak when it comes to my gaming possessions. Perhaps it was the PS2 that started all this, because in the past I could have cared less about any of these things. --- My Rare Two-Toned PSP-3000 Import Collection: White/Blue (JPN)(Main), Black/Red (JPN), Red/Black (JPN) and Sky Blue/Marine Blue (Asia).
Holy ****. Omg, I believe that you are totally right about the PS2 comment. Before having the PS2 I was always playing N64, Gameboys, SNES, Dreamcast, and I think that I got Gamecube before the PS2. PS2 got me into tons of PS1 games as well as PS2 games. PS2 made my gaming love, mostly gaming addiction come into fruition. There is easily close to, if not 200 superb quality games for the PS2, seriously. PSP is pretty much the same way for me, its own games as well as being able to play SNES games at any time. I am actually making this message off of my PS3 right now which so far since having it since Christmas I don't feel as obssessed over yet. The PS2 I've had since 2002 same one, and I was pretty upset knowing how old mine is that newer models of PS3 like mine cant play PS2 games. --- RJP THE MVP OF MVPS ''We've managed to avoid drowning!''-Raiden

I too, got my PS3 (Scarlet Red Japanese Import Edition) during Christmas/New Year's time from my friend. She bought it for me as a thank-you for the PSP I gave her awhile back. Anyhoo, I have probably played PS3 like 4 times total. I own a couple of games (Limited Edition sets) but haven't opened them. It's different now, I work so I don't have the same time to sit in front of a TV to game. That's why I love my PSPs. Gaming whenever, wherever. *shrugs* --- My Rare Two-Toned PSP-3000 Import Collection: White/Blue (JPN)(Main), Black/Red (JPN), Red/Black (JPN) and Sky Blue/Marine Blue (Asia).
I have maybe 10 or 11 PS3 games thus far and I'm really not wowed yet. The PS2 opened an experience in gaming that the level of gaming innovation and enjoyment I doubt will be matched for it. Anyways, a few people were putting me on to the PS3 in the last few years, especially about the graphics as well as the gameplay. Most of the graphics look like PS2 graphics with a bit of an HD effect. Not that Icare about graphics much but people were going on and on about them. And most of the games so far seem ok, to great that I have and played. The PSP to me at first was pretty good, then I got a DS Lite in the middle of 06 and was big on it for a few years. Then the PSP became better to me again and ever since it became big with me I literally worship the device. XD --- RJP THE MVP OF MVPS ''We've managed to avoid drowning!''-Raiden |
