Is it possible to activate the vault 87 map marker?

I don't think I got it when I did the GECK quest. I tried walking up to it but the rads are too high.

Yes, but you have to go into your pipboy every couple of seconds to take large doses of radaway.

Yes - as above post - pause lots and take LOTS of radaway. As soon as the map marker pops pause again, take more radaway, fast travel to the nearest map marker (Little Lantern caves I think) then pause again and take more radaway.

If you're lucky you will still be alive, but even pausing every couple of seconds can get you killed. I think the highest rad counter I saw was putting out 585 rads per second - hit 1,000 and you die. That was whilst wearing armour with high radiation resistance and having taken Rad-X to boost resistance.

The surface map marker is designed to fry you :)

you hotkey the rad-away.

won't work with FWE... but I suppose FWE allows you to be a ghoul and adds a few other perks that might keep you alive.

But you can toggle it with the console.

Oh, I put on godmode to see how high it got. With no clothes on and no anti rad medicine or perks, there are sections where it's over 2,000/second.

2,000/second.

assume 85% resistance thats 300 Rad/s

which is 2 or so radaway a second, easy enough to run with it hotkeyed and autorun on, and an unlimited supply of the radaway.
