I played Oblivion and know there was nothing like a romance in that game (however Morrowind did have a certain khajitt). However after OB I played Mass Effect 1 & 2 and Dragon Age, both with much deeper stories and both had romance and/or sex.
I was just curious if this game had anything like that (without mods). I read that you get a home, so is there someone you can marry or shack up with? What about just a one-time fling?
I know that's nothing about what the game is about but it can help add a lot from a roleplaying perspective, which I generally get heavily into.
There's no marriage or romance in the game. There's also pretty much no sex; there is a prostitute you can pay to sleep with you, but that's all she does - go up to your bed and fall asleep. There are some implied sexual situations involving NPCs (Evergreen Mills immediately springs to mind) but nothing the PC can do.
Oblivion actually has some pretty good romances if you use mods. Far better than any Mass Effect or Dragon Age romance. http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1093384-req-romance-mod/
Well, okay... mostly just Integration, most of the others are about on par (or worse in some cases) with the standard bioware romance.
I haven't really seen or heard ofanydecent romance mods for fallout 3 though. Mostly just random: "have sex with random people", or "pass some skill check to convince certain women/mem into sleeping with you" type mods.

Ever since BG2's Saerith mod, I've steered clear of fan romances. I generally steer clear of RPG romances in general, Occasionally doing it because its easy and I get an achievement.
Seriously the dumbed down version of RPG romances for the casual gamer is apparently don't tell the girl you aren't interested. wait. Say you want sex. watch the somewhat amusing cutscene that can't show actual sex or nudity, get the acheivement.
If the next one is called, because of his MO, the underwear bomber, you'll know I'm on to something. Calvin Trillin June 16, 2006.
Just seems out of place for a Fallout game to not have it though.
I remember in FO2 my female character married the farmer's daughter, then pimped her to a shop owner for a discount, then my character became a porn star named Pocahotass, then she slept with a mod leader's wife, then his daughter (all the time keeping my farmer's daughter wife). Course you couldn't do a lot of this without a high CHA, which FO3 seems to have made completely worthless.
I know the rpg romances are lame by design (the game is not a date sim), but adding them in there I think adds some character to the roleplay. Hate to see that FO3 left that completely out.
