(Wow, dead board - I hope someone even sees this!)

Played SH1 &2, don't have 3, but have 4. Is 4 in any way related to the events of 3 in terms of story? That is, is 4 a standalone title like 2 was?

4 is pretty stand alone. However, 4 will refer back to some things from 2, but it's not a direct link to it. So basically, you don't need to play 2 to understand 4, but doing so might help you understand it slightly more.

4 was designed not even as a SH game from the start, but was later named a SH game. The events from the previous games do not carry over. But...it is a great game with some minor flaws.
