16GB of Ram

So I was wondering, if the 16GB of ram stated in R* official reqiurments is for real.

Will Max Payne 3 really use more than 4GB of Ram?? Sounds to me like somoeone was lazy in making these reqiurments :P. GTAIV and EFLC never went over the 2-3GB mark and they were open world games. L.A Noire (which i'm guessing uses an updated version the RAGE engine) also wasn't Ram crazy.

This what's keeping me from pre-ordering. I did not get very flattering opinions of the GTA 4 port from gamers and as much as I want to trust in R* I know where the real money is gonna come from as far as platform is concerned. For what its worth, the devs said those super high requirements are actually the maximum the game can handle and not the recommended ones.

Idk what that even means to be honest, I've never known devs to release "maximum" requirements over recommended ones. Still dont know if they are using a 64 bit exe so idk how the game is gonna use up 16gigs of ram either. I'll wait for a proper PC review before deciding for now.

R* already said that this is the "ranged" specs, not the "recomended.
The game will rum great from 2gb to 16gb.

Its been confirmed by Rockstar themselves that its just a "range of supported hardware".
The highest specs listed in the system requirements are just the highest supported hardware but you wont actually need those to play the game, or to max it even. Im pretty sure 4GB-8GB will be more than enough, nobody needs 16GB for gaming.

yea theres really only like 1-2 things that benefit(not even needed) with 16gb RAM

Aww man, I don't have all the requirements for ultra.

I have the 680 SC, but only the i5-3570k and 8gb of RAM and not the i7-3930k or the whooping 16gb of RAM. I'm in real trouble, guys. :(
