Choosing companions.

I decided for my Character to be a Jedi Guardian Dark Side.

However I haven't decided if I want to be weapon master or marauder yet. I know your think how can I be a weapon master if DS. Well I'll play the game normally but before I choose my prestige I'd use a light side point glitch so I can be a weapon master then I'll use a dark side glitch to get back to full darkness.

Anyways what I'm trying to do is decide between three companions to bring along...

1. Mandalore
If I use him he will be trained to use dual pistols.

2. Atton
I will make him a Jedi Sentinel ASAP.

3. Bao-Dur
I will make him a Jedi Guardian ASAP.

All three look like effective party members and are all characters I would like to have around just for the heck of it. But sadly in this game I can only have 2 others come with me so I'm stuck at the point where I need to remove one them, but I'm having trouble deciding who to remove.

IMO, Mira is a much better choice than Mandalore for dual pistols. You should make sure to get her, not Hanharr. She's practically built for it and her free Precise Shot feats definitely make her the best candidate for it.

Not to be mean, but this is a very bad idea. Mandalore's stats scream for him to be used in melee combat. He has very high strength for a non wookie character, comes with a decent modifiable (but unequipable) set of heavy armor, and has various "implants" that make him much better in melee combat.

2. Atton
I will make him a Jedi Sentinel ASAP.

Atton is a solid choice. However, one of his most useful features is his sneak attack. In order to max out the sneak attack chain, you have to let him reach level 19 of scoundrel. Another benchmark is level 15 (IIRC) where he recieves scoundrel's luck. If you take him, I would suggest also taking Kreia to toss out some mass insanities to let him capitalize on his sneak attacks.

3. Bao-Dur
I will make him a Jedi Guardian ASAP.

TBQH, Bao-dur is Horrible outside of the workbench. He can't use any of the jedi robes or armors, so he is stuck with either mining gear and force speed, or medium armor and no force speed. Also, Tech Specialist gets the highest amount of skill points period, so you lose your one man building station if you convert him to a Guardian.

All three look like effective party members and are all characters I would like to have around just for the heck of it. But sadly in this game I can only have 2 others come with me so I'm stuck at the point where I need to remove one them, but I'm having trouble deciding who to remove.

If I had to choose between those three, I would easily choose Atton and Mandalore. Your party will be a bit lop-sided, because as a guardian you won't be able to use the force as effectively as a consular (like Kreia) can. Regardless, I'm sure you won't have (that) hard of a time whatever companions you do choose.

As Mandalore comes later in the game. i would kick him. Your party is already set up, why restructure it. Also he is no Jedi. Not as fun and 33% less Force Powers.

Ya.

After I posted this question I went looking around on Game Banshee and learned some things I had forgotten since I last played Kotor II for example.

1. Bao-Dur can't wear robes.
Well technically I never knew that once since I had never made him a Jedi before.

2. Atton's revival skills and other good feats.
Atton has so many good combat feats despite the fact he's a scoundrel he fights better than a normal soldier would.

3. Mandalores many unique feats.
Two would be his implant feat and the Mandalorian one.

So I am going to use Mandalore and Atton.
However I want to keep Mandalore as ranged because I find when I make my full team melee they tend not to do so well. Mandalore's also a soldier however so I can easily fix his feats to work as a dual pistols user.

Plus with the Hssiss spawn glitch I can easily fix up his attributes. But someone suggested that I use Mia, but I don't really want to, she was never a character I liked that much in the game, and Mandalore is my favourite character in the game.

As for my prestige, I choose to go Sith Maruader instead of Jedi WeaponMaster because I find their identical except for their alignment & alignment bonus, and since the Maruaders is slightly better and I always like playing dark side I decided to go with the Maruader.

However I do recall people mentioning on the board before that weapon master is more defensive, but when I checked online their feats and such were identical, just slightly different names, both gained Def at the same rate, both gained bonus damage & attack at the same rate, and both gained damage resistence at the same rate.

If I missed something though please let me know. Thanks!

Curse not being able to edit posts...

I forgot to add in that I am considering changing my starting class to Jedi Sentinel or Consular.

Sentinel to make myself more immune to certain powers and gain some extra skills like security.

Consular to make my force powers more effective.

My prestige still being Sith Maruader though I would still result in a melee Jedi in the end.

But Guardian could strengthen the melee aspect, it's a tough call.

However, about the fact Mandalore comes late and isn't a Jedi...

Mandalore dosen't come that late, once I leave Telos I'm heading to Narshadda to talk to the Twi'leks with info on Atton then heading straight to Dxun. Plus the fact he's not Jedi dosen't concern me, he's still plenty powerful and not all teams need to be fully Jedi to do well.

Some of the best teams have non Jedi's in them.

sure it is possible to get everything just beware of spoling the game. applies to xp glitches as well. Bao-Dur has a nice voice and thats about all he is good at. if not for roleplay reasons he is not exaclty the strongest char indeed.

Guardian has lots of feats, which is useful to get these feats later on.
Consular has extra powers, nice to get them all too.
Sentinel has lots of skills which is nice to get all the upgrades, dialogs, extra exp, and gives you freedom to pick/lvlup any NPC how you like it.

Sentinel is the better choice here if you wanna get the most out of the game. It pretty much completely surpasses the Guardian, unless you go armored(not a bad thing either), and consular i wouldnt bother too. Its faster to just kill things. Gamefaqs has a nice quide for just for the Sentinel. I would recommend an Improved AI mod too.
