PC specs, some help please

#1AudioCGPosted 11/12/2009 10:29:36 AM

Ok, so I dont generally use my PC much for gaming anymore (Old games, and GGPO mostly for the last few years), and I do in theory have the specs that break the "minnimum" required for DA:O.

However, I do remember how NWN chugged along far to hard for what it was, so my question is this:

I have 1.80 ghz Intel Core 2 duo CPU

2 gigs o RAM

ATI (I think the 9200-9600) 512 MB video card.

Can my PC run this game (I dont care if I have to turn down the graphics setting) smoothly?

I have this game on the PS3 already, but I wouldent mind having this game for both platforms, cause some times the wife claims the TV (Damn Dr. Phil...) and I wouldent mind being able to geek out on my Bioware goodness at a secondary station as it were.

If anyone has DA:O running with old busted specs like this, please let me know how it runs?

AMD 64 (or equivalent) running at 2.0Ghz or greater
RAM: 1.5 GB or more
Video: ATI Radeon X1550 256MB or greater
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256MB or greater
DVD ROM (Physical copy)
20 GB HD space

Recommended Specifications
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz Processor or equivalent
AMD Phenom II X2 Dual-Core 2.7 GHz or greater
RAM: 2 GB (XP) or 3 GB (Windows Vista/Windows 7)
Video: ATI 3850 512 MB or greater
NVIDIA 8800GTS 512 MB or greater
DVD ROM (Physical copy)
20 GB HD space

If your not at least half way between the two don't buy it. Also the game is much harder on PC then PS3 it wont be some button smashing good time like it currently is.

That isn't a downside at the least but warning you unless you enjoy a real challenge you should invest in another TV :)

Jesus, I know you guys are posting, my thread is falling like a rock, does anyone run DA:O with specs like mine? If so does it run smooth, NWN 2 is kinda choppy on my PC, I just want to avoid the same thing with this game, it has lower specs, but im not sure, just looking for some info.

Need more exact info on the graphics card. Graphics card will be the clincher.

I don't have specs like yours, but I can tell you that NWN 2 is a horribly optimized game and that your experience with it should have no relevance to your possible DA:O experience.

Arrg, im at work, would both the ATI Radeon 9200 and 9600 at 512MB work out well?

Good to know, was using it has a referance to the last Bioware game I ran on my current PC. (I could play it, but it was pretty choppy)

I played Mass Effect on my 360, so no PC attempt there.

9200 = no way. 9600 = probably no way.

You should upgrade your graphics card if possible. 9600 ATI is over seven years old and 9200 is 8 years old. 9200 goes all the way back to DirectX 8, and just wouldn't cut it for most games today.
