Dealing with Vaughan

So I'm playing as a city elf. Well, I chose to spare Vaughan (and didn't hide the money) in the hopes that the Alienage would be spared.

As soon as I come back to the Alienage- it's closed and a guard tells me it got purged!

What's the secret to saving the Alienage? Is there anything at all I can to save it? Or does it not matter either way, meaning I should just kill Vaughan?

Take Vaughn's money and kill him anyway. There's nothing you can do about the Alienage since that's what Howe's doing, not Bann Vaughn (Lord Vaughn's father).

What point in the game is this?
I don't remember the Alienage ever getting purged in mine.

Will I ever see any of the girls again whether or not I kill Vaughan?

Cynic, try playing as city elf to see it happen.

I did, my first character was Female City Elf.
Was this the stuff from the Origin? I don't remember anyone mentioning purging anything, and I killed the dude who raped my cousin. I don't remember them saying they were going to purge anything though.

I did own up to killing the bastard though. Maybe that's why.

I played City Elf male. I spared V, but later when I came back the Alienage got purged.

So as an Elven male it's impossible to ever save the Alienage, even if I kill V?

It's not purged, just quarantined. You can go back there later in the game.

If you spare Vaughan, you'll get a second crack at him late in the game.
