Is it just me or is the Mauville Game Corner (slot machines) rigged?

I've been trying to win enough coins for a Flamethrower TM for the last 2 hours out of my stubborn persistence. The thing is, I've only gotten 777 about 8 times, and I've been 1 off of 777 about 200 times now. I swear that I've seen the last reel "jump" to the lightning bolt in between the two 7s numerous times, and I swear I've also seen it skip 4 down to give me a 3 in a row of Lotad. What's up with this? Is it actually rigged?

It would be faster to just buy the TM with actual money.

It is rigged, in a sense: I played it with savestates and frame-by-frame, and sometimes after getting the first two 7s, it was actually impossible to get a third (no matter what frame the last one was selected, it always landed on one side or the other)

FR/LG slots are a lot more fair than these ones

Thanks for the clarification! I was wondering what would happen on an emulator, as I am playing on my cartridge. I've seen it be impossible to get that third 7 at normal speed, but I never knew if it was just me... and it is not. Thanks :D

I'm not entirely sure what causes it, whether it only lets you get the three 7s every X number of games, or if it depends on the frames you get the first and second on, but it's really annoying :\

apparently some slot machines also have different odds, too? I'm not sure if that's actually true or just a rumour, though

It would be cool to see how the slots differ when Mauville has its special "lucky day" thing that the TV tells you about every now and then. When I checked out the slots (and the roulette) on that day I just did as bad as I always do. I do remember the slots cheating for me a few times to give me a reward but I guess that's usual.

It's a good thing there's almost no reason to ever need to get coins that way.

500 coins for 10,000

50 for 1,000

IIRC

A run through the Elite 4 will give you around 60,000 if you are holding amulet coin.

(That number isn't exact, I just remember the first guy give you about 9,800 and the other 3 gives around 10,000 and the champion about 20,000)
