if i am soft resetting to try to get a shiny Beldum at steven house? just asking --- Babus to Marche: Hah! The only thing that's crazy around here is you, my boy! WOW.....I just found out Globe_199 is really awesome
Anywhere from 15 seconds to 15 months. That's what random means. --- gbchaosmaster
Emerald's broken RNG means that its possible and perhaps likely you'll never get a shiny by blindly resetting. For example, the earliest time a shiny can appear on my Emerald file requires at least 3 minutes since the last reset. However, if I didn't know this I would soft reset 2-3 times a minute and thus my frame count would never reach the level where I even have a chance of finding a shiny. --- Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality
Unless you're asking how long a shiny Beldum would register in the 'dex, it'll be the same height as a regular Beldum: 2 feet.

Keeping this in mind, I suggest you try to learn how to use those various sites that can give you your shiny frames, and try to get one like that --- THIS IS WHAT I HATE A BOUT EVREY WEBSITE!! RNG = Random Number Generator. It's what the game uses to determine any "random" events: moves missing, wild encounters, pokemon being shiny/non-shiny, etc. However, it's not really random. The way any computer generates random numbers involves starting with a "seed" which is used to determine all the rest of the random numbers. This seed should change based on time or something, but for some reason in emerald it always starts at 0, and therefore the random numbers generated are actually the exact same every time you restart the game. In short, it is possible to determine at what exact times after startup shiny pokemon will appear based on trainer and secret ID. Say it turns out that frame 6000 is your first shiny frame. This means that wild pokemon encountered exactly 6000 frames after a soft-reset (A+B+Start+Select), which is 100 seconds (60 frames per second) will be shiny every single time. Once you know this, just make sure to find your pokemon at that time, and they'll be shiny. At least, that's my understanding of it, but I've never actually done it myself. Chances are I accidentally threw some mis-information in there through trying to simplify things, so I'd suggest checking out the links near the top of this post http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50696 Beldum in particular is a method 1 pokemon, but the other types are there in case you want to use it for other pokemon too. --- THIS IS WHAT I HATE A BOUT EVREY WEBSITE!! It's not the size of the Beldum that matters, it's the moves it knows. Also, kirby is right. The main problem with trying to find shinies with RNG is that you don't know your secret ID, and usually can't without hacking. However, if you've caught a shiny pokemon (like you made your last thread about), you can use the IVs, nature, etc. to find the exact frame you caught it on (use RNG Reporter for this, find it through kirby's link). From there, the program can deduce what your secret ID is and determine what other frames will always have shiny pokemon. |
