I just bought this recently. As a side note, I'm wondering if this move bodes well for a sequel--that is, maybe things behind the scenes have gone well and so they want to boost the number of players that have played this?

IIRC Notch offered to fund Psychonauts 2 with his own money.

And Tim Schafer talked him out of it. Instead they did a KickStarter for a different game by Tim.

I think Mr. Schafer's taking care of Notch by limiting the scope of the game, too.

Remember, the publishers who provided the initial funding for both Psychonauts and Brutal Legend had to write off their investments as a dead loss. Although there was a lawsuit when Tim took Brutal Legend to a different publisher.

So I got the bundle two days ago, mainly for Braid and Amnesia. I heard of Pychonauts before, but I didn't really pay much attention to the title. I just decided to try the game out today, because why the hell not. I'm about 3 hours in now.

And.
I.
Freakin'.
Love.
It.

I love the whole psychic powers theme, the jokes had me laughing out loud a few times, the controls are very fluid and responsive (though the camera can get weird sometimes, but I guess it's hard to avoid in 3D platformers) and it's just FUN to play. Might be just because I like collecting stuff for 100% completion, the gradual unlocking of new powers... I also think the levels I've seen so far were fantastically designed, especially Sasha's Shooting Gallery.

To conclude my mini-review - it's 10:30 right now and I can't put the game down. I really have no idea why it did so poorly. It's a little gem, really. I'd get the HIB just for it, if I were buying it now.

Glad you like it!

There's a lot to the game you can miss, too. Like everything the campers will say on the way up to Coach Oleander's treehouse at the very start of the game. It takes several restarts to hear them all.

Once you get Clairvoyance, use it on everyone and everything. Schafer put a lot of work into having Clairvoyance images for everything that could possibly be justified.

Keep a save in the early Milkman Conspiracy. You'll want to come back after finishing the game to use Confusion Grenades on everyone there (which requires cheats). Some hilarious stuff.

Oh, yeah. There's a difficulty spike late, including an escort mission. There are tricks to help in most of the trouble spots, though.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

This is in my top 10 list of favorite games. First playedbit on the Xbox a long time ago. Picked up the bundle and started playing it again. Love it. Is it just me or are the graphics updated on the PC?

Not really, but larger resolution(s) makes it look better, though FMV's are still 4:3 480p

I have to ask, why are there songs missing from the Psychonauts soundtrack? There's no Napoleon's Final Conflict Revisited (one of my favorites), no Agent Cruller's Sacred Hall (another one of my favorites), and probably some others missing as well.

If you mean the downloadable soundtracks you get from the HIB V website, they're not supposed to be the "full" soundtracks. I know Amnesia's soundtrack isn't complete, either.

Why would they make a soundtrack and not make it "full"? Not saying I doubt you, but it does kind of annoy me.

A lot of soundtrack albums are not "full", videogames or not. Movies are like this especially. Of the 6 or 7 movie soundtracks I have, none of them have all the music that appears in the film. It's a pain, but I guess the logic is that they want the music that is best representative of the movie/game, not a complete copy of all of the audio.
