When I get to the dancing part, what am I supposed to do? The FAQs say I'm supposed to press the button that corresponds to the arrow that goes into the circle, but I don't see the circle or arrows. The mission where you have to do this with the lowrider worked fine, so why isn't this?
Nothing is there. I just got the game off Steam Sunday, so I'm sure it's fully up-to-date.

Well... that sucks. Does the dance routine work if you go to the disco bar? It's a couple blocks north of the lowrider mini-game.
Try a google search. I seem to remember reports of problems similar to yours but I never checked them out.
Try deleting, renaming, or moving gta_sa.set from you SA User Files folder so the game can re-detect the video settings. Maybe it will work better this time around.
Maybe Steam can offer some support.
Upload your save to gtasnp.com and post the link on a help forum like: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showforum=200 and maybe someone will complete the mission for you.
I read somewhere that you can skip the dance and jack the van by bringing a homie with you. If CJ tries to steal the van it will be locked, but supposedly the homie can still jack the car and somehow CJ can enter. I'm not sure how. Maybe he unlocks the door or maybe he will exit and you can catch the door - I've never tried it.
Good luck, and post the results if anything works.
I had Steam verify the game files and it said 1 file failed to validate so it downloaded a 2.9MB file. But now my save file doesn't work. It crashes as soon as I load it. On the bright side, I've been trying to download a 100% save but none of them ever worked, but now they do. Still, it sucks that I've apparently lost my save even if I didn't get very far.
I found the club and the dance worked fine this time.

That's strange. I thought all Steam versions were version 2, so there shouldn't be a compatibility issue. You could try using hmvartak's save conversion tool, If it can identify one version or the other then try converting it to the other and see if it works.
Ugh, I found out what the problem was. Before I created my save I was trying to download 100% save files. One of the downloads told me to replace the file "main.scm" with the one included in the download. Looking at the size of this file and when it was created, it must be the one Steam replaced. Weird how it prevented me from completing the beach mission, though. Thanks for the help.

Because you haven't replaced the script.img file. That file depends on the main.scm. If you replace one, you have to replace the other or else the error occurs. If you do replace both files, then there won't be any problems using older version save files. --- Read FAQs please!
