Difference between Night Walker and Assassin?

#1NeeshbagPosted 4/17/2010 12:33:18 AM
I am a beta / early post-beta player returning and have the funds for an Assassin.

However I am being asked to choose a character type and the Explorers/Cygnus Knights thing confuses me.
From what I read NWs are more powerful. But is there a catch? I want the "best" available so I dont want to commit to the inferior type.

Knights of Cygnus have a level cap at 120.
KoC gain 6 AP per level until level 70,then 5 AP per level until 120.
Night Walkers gain moves that assassins do not get until 3rd job (I.E. Flash Jump) in 2nd job.
Night Walkers are dark/poison element.
IIRC,Night walkers do not get Shadow Star(Skill where 200 stars are used to provide stars without consumption for seconds/minutes.)

Assassin/Adventurers do not cap at 120,rather 200.
Adventurers gain 5 AP from all the levels.

That's all I remember as of now. >.>

Cygnus have 3 jobs, get a selection of skills early, cap at 120 and gain 6 AP/level rather than 5 until 70.

The big question to ask yourself is "Do I plan on bossing with this character?"

At 120 you'll be.. *alright* at Zakum, but don't plan on being picked over Adventurers, and DON'T expect to ever be useful at tougher bosses.

Knights of Cygnus characters are MapleStory on "easy mode." They are much stronger than other classes until level 120, but because they can't level anymore, all the other classes eventually pass them.

The Dufrains are missing, who can play MapleStory at a time like this?

they are stronger than other adventurers until they get to about 134.

so if you want a useless 134ish level character at cap, with maybe one or two unique skills, pick night walker.

if you want to be a real night lord pick assassin.

note: some cygnuses are better than their representative class for even longer because of the unique skills. TBs are one of those.

People also forgot to say that Night walkers have way better sins than assassins till they are a night lord.

you mean skills?

this is true. NWs get a mob skill that drains HP in 2nd job, which is very very useful.
