Having a trouble picking my party after reaching Earth crystal.
I know I want to start all char with lv 1 jobs and
I know that I want to make my Ingus into an Ranger (getting bored after using a knight for a long time -.-)

I think I'll make Refia and Arc into mages.
Refia prolly will become Summoner.
I don't which is is better for Arc, though, Sage or Devout...
(Though Sage seems to fit his char well)

Since the other three are back row chars, I guess I'll have to choose a melee job for Luneth.
I'm leaning towards Black Belt, Dragoon, or Ninja
(I'm leaning toward Black Belt since it looks cool, but that would mean that I'm gonna waste Gungnir that require me to grind my thief for 2 full days T_T)

So, what jobs do you think my Arc and Luneth should be?

I guess I could also change my Refia, Ingus, and Luneth into Ninja, Dragoon, and Archer and change my Arc into a Devout.
The point is, I REALLY want to keep an Archer

Ugh, why would you even want to keep a Ranger? They suck major ass. If you really need to keep one, for the love of Cosmos, don't ditch the Knight over it. The Knight is one of the more powerful melee Jobs and can get access to three of the most powerful swords in the game.

Magic suffers a lot during the endgame, the reason is that enemies not longer comes in huge groups, they either attack solo or just in pairs. Magic also just can't compare to the power of a good leveled melee Job dual wielding two good weapons.

Regarding your other choices:
Devout is pretty mandatory unless your extremely, extremely overleveled.
Ninja is good from the getgo due to its high Strength and Agility.
In my humble opinion, I find a Dragoon kinda useless without the Gungrir.
Blackbelt is only good if you're willing to grind, unarmed damage relies a lot on Job Levels.

4 Dragoons dual wielding blood lances and jumping until endgame would like to have a word with you.

Hahaha....
I know people say they kinda suck in this game, but I just LOVE bows and arrows...

The problem is with my knight is, it keeps doing around the same damage as my Dragoon AND WAY lower than my THIEF even with (assumably) better weapons... (Well... the thief was lv 70 and my knight was 55, but still... it was 2000 damage difference to no-weakness and 6000 to monster with wind weakness (I was using air knife))

I see... I DO have a Gungnir...
I guess I won't be using a summoner for now then...
So, I'll just change my Refia into a Devout, Arc to a Ranger, Luneth to a Knight, and Ingus to a Ninja (kinda suit his winning pose). This way, everybody will start from job lv 1~. If I suddenly despise rangers, I'll change Arc to a Dragoon or mage (Magus/Summoner)

Why would you make your Luneth the Knight if Ignus already has a lot of Job Levels invested in Knight already? Just make someone else your Ranger.

the thief was lv 70 and my knight was 55
And that's your problem: that's a whopping fifteen points of difference in Job Levels. Job Levels play a huge factor in dealing damage. It's also for that reason if a Warrior, Monk or Thief has high enough Job Levels its worth keeping one around.

I'm really not getting why it seems like you want to handicap yourself....

Nah, the reason the thief was doing more damage was really that thieves are just very good at doing melee damage. Just the better agility will let them put out 4 more hits per arm, and that's before we count lighter equipment (+1 hit per arm) and most late-game knives giving even more agility (+2 more hits per arm). They have low strength, but the silly amount of extra hits more than counteracts that. Job level mostly affects hit count as well, but 15 points difference will generally only give 1 extra hit (2 extra in this very specific case due to rounding), which is dwarfed by the agility difference.

Anyway, the TC said
I know I want to start all char with lv 1 jobs
so there's that.
