Resident Evil 4

RE4 was SO GOOD, they should make RE4 - part 2, screw RE5. I have an xbox 360 and I have played Fallout 3, Mass Effect, etc. and while these newer games are more dynamic, with better HD graphics, they can't hold a candle to the FUN FACTOR that RE4 has. The specific team that created RE4 obviously really cared about the piece of art they were creating, instead of just making a less refined game that they knew would still sell well. The pacing of the game was perfect, the story was great with the "illuminados" (which is interesting because this is an obvious reference and analogy to real world stuff...), the many large and diverse bosses were great, great level design, atmosphere, etc. My wish would be for them to make a part 2 or episode 2 to the RE4 game. Most things would stay the same: same location as before but now you're entering new castles, etc. Same Illuminados storyline, etc. But here are the only major changes they should make: 1: Improve controls so you can straff left/right and also shoot while moving. 2: HD graphics. Graphics are already very good (especially GC version) but could still be improved. 3: Introduce just a little more "rpg" elements to the gameplay such as more weapons, many different bulletproof vests, special shotgun rounds, experience points which increase max health, etc., to bring more depth to the gameplay. And I'm sure there are more improvements I haven't thought of, but these are the main ones I could think of right away. However, the main point is that I think the new episode or part 2 should stay 90-95% the same; don't fix what isn't broken. I believe that RE4 is OBJECTIVELY (not just my opinion) the best video game ever made. I am a VERY PICKY video game player and I got so bored with Fallout 3, Mass Effect, and Oblivion that I didn't even finish Fallout 3 or Mass Effect, and I'm struggling to stay interested in Oblivion right now, even though I feel Oblivion's FUN FACTOR is way better than Fallout 3 and Mass Effect. I think part of the reason it's hard to enjoy even the best games these days is because I'm almost 30 years old and have (for the most part) grown old enough where they just can't hold my attention. BUT...RE4 is the exception: it is such a greatly constructed game that I could never grow up enough to stop liking it. I'd just like to quickly state that besides RE4 (about 5 years old), the only other somewhat modern game that I absolutely LOVED was Skies of Arcadia (about 9-10 years old) for the dreamcast. With no random battles and updated graphics that would be awesome. (Isn't that interesting how the word "awe-SOME" is good, yet "awe-FULL" is bad?) Anyways, what do you think about my thoughts on RE4 continuing with a sequel that is very very similar to RE4, unlike the very different direction they took with RE5?
and here I was thinking RE4 Part 2 would cover the 'overtime' --- If the next one is called, because of his MO, the underwear bomber, you'll know I'm on to something. Calvin Trillin June 16, 2006.
But you thought wrong. Thanks for your "feedback". --- Just beneath the lie hides the real reality: we feed machines with "minds" in need of WORTH - Agent Steel
Basically for me if you put Leon on any resident evil game im gonna play it for sure --- Straight Cash Homey - Randy Moss
Thanks for your feedback Mr Magi. I however await a much more in-depth response to the points and ideas I have brought up. --- Just beneath the lie hides the real reality: we feed machines with "minds" in need of WORTH - Agent Steel
Here's a nice response for ya! From: TheGameOfLife | #001 My first problem comes from this. RE4 more than rapped up the events in Spain, it would have to find a new setting. If it took place in the same place then there would be no fresh feeling to it. Plus new settings in general is always nicer than rehashes of older ones. 1: Improve controls so you can straff left/right and also shoot while moving. This always causes a lot of debate when talking about Resident Evil. In my opinion if both of those things were implemented, the game would be simply WAY too easy. In fact, it would be so laughably easy that any hint of difficulty would only result from the player's terrible ability. This could be fixed by changing the behavior of the Ganados, making them faster and more aggressive, but there's just something about the clunky controls that I love too much to have it changed. A compromise I would be willing to accept is the ability to strafe but only while moving around, not while aiming. 3: Introduce just a little more "rpg" elements to the gameplay such as more weapons, many different bulletproof vests, special shotgun rounds, experience points which increase max health, etc., to bring more depth to the gameplay. I'm gonna give a no to this. I don't really have a huge point to make, but I feel that RPG elements should be kept off the main series. New weapons could be fun, and if they actually decided to get a very deep upgrade system, I could go for that. And I'm sure there are more improvements I haven't thought of, but these are the main ones I could think of right away. However, the main point is that I think the new episode or part 2 should stay 90-95% the same; don't fix what isn't broken. I can agree with you. RE4 is one of those games that I just love so much that if a sequel was released in a different setting with everything pretty much the same, I could enjoy the hell out of it. And as for your comments on Fallout 3 and Oblivion, it's really too bad you had to play those on a console. They are millions of times better on a PC where you have access to countless mods that tweak the game to almost perfect status. I'd highly recommend you try Oblivion on the PC, nothing compares once it has been fixed by the many awesome user made mods out there. That's all I got for now. --- Cover your knees up if you're gonna be walking around everywhere. http://i44.tinypic.com/w2gflw.jpg
From: TheGameOfLife | #001 if you BELIEVE that, then it's your opinion, that's basically the definition of "opinion", something YOU believe but can't state as fact. and it is a fun game, not my favorite tho... i prefer the older REs, and RE5 is crap compared to this i'll give you that.

No. Belief is definition of Belief. it has nothing to do with fact or opinion. thanks for playing. would you like your consolation prize now? --- If the next one is called, because of his MO, the underwear bomber, you'll know I'm on to something. if he BELIEVES its the best game, that's his opinion, if it was a fact (and not his opinion as he said) then it wouldn't involve belief, facts are facts. and as a sidenote, i don't think he could have an objective opinion of the game from what i read...
I'm not an RE fan, just a gamer, so I can't make comparisons to previous games in the series. As a game in and of itself, RE4 is almost perfect. I would have loved a 'stealth' button (hugging walls, crawling etc) and the ability to move while aiming/firing. Attache case I can do without, figure something else to switch weapons/heal. That aside (yes it IS cheesy!) I don't think you could improve it. What I WOULD like to see is the same gameplay mechanisms (3rd person view, fighting) and Leon in another game...not necessarily an RE game! --- http://www.gt4fox.proboards100.com/ Discourage Inbreeding.
