DSi battery won't hold a charge

#1BearpowersPosted 7/11/2011 9:40:45 AM
Had it around a year now.

Was playing Dragon Quest IX max backlight and wifi off.

it had charged for 8 hours while I slept.

Only got around 45 minutes battery life when I should be getting a little over 3 hours?

Can I buy official replacement batteries?

If so where.

Hahaha. My original six year old DS battery can barely go for ten minutes off the charger. Good thing I got a 3DS a couple of days ago.

Nintendo has no DSI batteries on their online store.

All the ones on Amazon are 3rd party.

I too, have a 3DS.

But I hate playing my DS games on it.

Games look much nicer on my DS full screen native resolution

Not to hijack the thread, but can you play a dsi if the battery can't hold a charge as long as it's plugged into an outlet? In other words, can you use the charger as an AC adapter.

Also, are there any third party peripherals that allow you to run a DSi on regular batteries (AA or AAA)?

There is a product called the music power encore available from amazon that will let you plug in the DSi, DSi XL or 3DS if you have a compatible USB cable. The product is a USB charger that contains an internal battery so you could theoretically play your DS off that, I do it sometimes too since I have the music power (or else I wouldn't be able to tell you all about it). It will also charge pretty much any device you can plug into it with a USB cable in the same way including iPods, iPhone etc.
