JurassicBondPosted 8/23/2012 4:38:04 AM | Even though it's far from my favorite Final Fantasy, I'd say FFIV is a decent starting place because it's one of the easiest ones to jump into for a new person. --- Reading: Towers of Midnight - Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson http://i.imgur.com/chrQo.jpg http://i.imgur.com/nYklT.jpg |
BatenKait0sPosted 8/23/2012 5:20:01 AM | Final Fantasy I and II: Dawn of Souls on the Game Boy Advance.
FF II isn't considered to be one of the greats, but it's a good one nonetheless. FF 1 on Dawn of Souls is fantastic, and a great entry into understanding what the whole series is about. --- Currently playing: Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure (3DS), Riviera: The Promised Land (GBA) [[Dear CyberConnect2, kindly make us a Solatorobo 2.]] |
Northern_RosePosted 8/23/2012 5:50:43 AM | 6 and 9 are the best. --- It's not that I don't got a full 6 pack, I just lack the plastic thing that holds it all together. |
PitfallMarioPosted 8/23/2012 7:18:37 AM | FF must played games starting with ...
1. FF6 (GBA) 2. FF4 (DS) 3. FF7 (PS1) 4. FF8 (PS1) 5. FF9 (PS1) 6. FF10 (PS2)
I like this order because you get to see the evolution of the graphics |
StrayofthesunPosted 8/23/2012 8:57:53 AM | I'd suggest any FF from I-VI to start with, those all had pretty easy generic RPG systems. VII and onward feel very different game-play wise and might make the older ones feel inferior. --- White FC: 0432 8808 8857 Member of the EV Training Center. |
themegaman7Posted 8/23/2012 12:17:05 PM | 4, 6, 7, 9 and 10 are all good starting points.
5, 7 and 10 are my personal favourites, but me thinks 5 isn't a good place to start. --- PSN - Expa0 - The official Doppelganger of SMT IV boards - |

I like this order because you get to see the evolution of the graphics Then why is FF4 for DS on the list? While it might look a bit like a PS1 game, it certainly doesn't fit in there as it was made years after any of those other games. --- If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face--forever. http://i.imgur.com/Vgmi3.gif |

GhetsisPosted 8/23/2012 2:49:44 PM | As long as you play the NES or PS versions of I & II, you're good to go. All the other versions are utter crap.
As for a starting point, though, I'd suggest IX. It doesn't have much in the way of gameplay gimmicks, it's simple, and traditional. --- For those players who don't speak Australian, we have provided an English translation of the previous scene. Do you want to replay the scene? |
ParominPosted 8/23/2012 3:37:13 PM | I'd just avoid II altogether.
