They will never work on a 3DS right? I have a hefty suspicion I've been sold a fake for once. --- A hunt of madness! 3DS: NSMB2, SC3D ||| DS: Izuna 2 ||| PSV: Rayman O, U:GA ||| PSP: GTA:LCS, Tenchu 4
Never knew "fake" DS games existed. If Nintendo's securities are tight, it should let you know if it's fake. Every single legit DS games work no matter what. --- Currently playing: Kingdom Hearts 3D and Tales of Graces F

Was it eBay? In general, be weary of any market place driven by users' merchandise. Even spots like Amazon Marketplace aren't safe since it isn't Amazon themselves' products. my favorite fakes are the ones that are so obvious though, lol. Like Pokemon Magnum or <insert outrageous color/mineral here> games. --- I'm better than okay. I'm Homer Simpson.
FrankGrimey posted... Was it eBay? Yeah, usually I'm very wary of where the item comes from, condition, etc. but I fell for it this time since the casing looked legit in the photo. Turns out it wasn't. And yeah I've seen many a fake "main line" Pokemon, like the ghost or black version, one with Mew on the cover etc. These fakes function on DS and DSLite but nothing higher (DSi, 3DS) right? --- A hunt of madness! 3DS: NSMB2, SC3D ||| DS: Izuna 2 ||| PSV: Rayman O, U:GA ||| PSP: GTA:LCS, Tenchu 4
Exceed20XX posted... VeryDarkSoul posted...stop buying games from hong kong and expecting it to be legit Because people from Wisconsin can't sell products from Hong Kong. But yeah, fake DS games tend to not work on anything above DS Lite. Buying opened/used games online is already reason enough for caution so you have to be pretty careful of where and who you buy from. Get a refund or return if you can, and if it's a site like ebay definitely leave some negative feedback. Fake DS games may seem fine if you can play them, but historically they are built shoddily and have less built in memory than typical DS games which means they won't store your saves for as long. Sorry about the fake. --- http://www.backloggery.com/fridgebeard The only thing people hate more than stagnancy is change.
Exceed20XX posted... These fakes function on DS and DSLite but nothing higher (DSi, 3DS) right? I've seen at least one fake (of Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier) that appeared to work on a DSi. Not sure if it might not flake out later in the game, but it would at least start and run. --- My game collection: http://chemicalburrito.com Now playing: Dragon Quest IV (DS) | Recently Beat: Dragon Quest IX (DS)
Exceed20XX posted... FrankGrimey posted...Was it eBay? There are some ''fakes'' that work on dsi's and 3ds systems, it really depends how ''upgraded'' the person selling the games are. Though most of them will probably only work on ds and ds lites because of lack of system updates. I wouldn't exactly call them fakes though. More like clones, they function exactly the same the as the original would and if the game has wifi capabilities it more than likely will work as well without problems. It just that most of the ''fakes'' use cheap memory which becomes a problem later or very soon after use. So for people who have fakes and devote time to a specific game like an rpg adventure type the data on it will eventually get erased or unable to be accessed because of the cheap internal memory it uses. I had problems with 2 games i unknowingly purchased a while back that were ''fakes''. I bought them from a random shop, and they didn't have any cases or manuals just the cartridge in a small case. Games were tested before purchasing and worked fine. When i got home and played them a bit more i begun to notice some problems. If i played either game for say for than 2 -3 hrs straight it would freeze, sometimes when i would insert it in the ds it wouldn't read it. Another thing i noticed after ( that i should have noted earlier) was that the cartridge shell was a little thicker than normal so when ejecting it would sometimes get stuck. It didn't trouble me at first since i would even use the online functions well , but it did get annoying when i didn't notice how much i had been playing and then it would freeze. I also got to a certain section in the game where i couldn't access otherwise it would always freeze if i always went in there. Eventually i stopped playing it then years later i tried to play them and they wouldn't even be read by the system and when i did manage to get them to work the data was completely empty. My dsi would also would also read the game but would give em an error. Fake games as you state really only seem to work on ds and ds lites systems ( because of lack of firmware update protection.. it has none), some do work on other ds revisions. Rarely will any on a 3ds system ---
FridgeBeard posted... Exceed20XX posted...VeryDarkSoul posted...stop buying games from hong kong and expecting it to be legit Yeah you aren't likely to find the various genuine Hong Kong releases without a middle man. Most sellers even don't bother offering them. --- What's the buzz? A high voltage positive ion attack!? Chaaa! |
