It says my nidoqueen and sandslash prefer to play with others... will they make an egg?

no. that wil not make an egg. it has to come up that they seem to get along

If he says ANTHING other than they prefer to play with others, you will get an egg, sooner or later.

Since nobody else has pointed this out, for whatever reason, Nintendo and/or Gamefreak decided that when a female Nidoran evolves it looses the ability to breed.

You need to either use a nidoran female, or one of the male evolutions.
