Before i started the game, i would like to find out once after i started the game, can i choose the other gender in a separate file?

What is the difference between the boy and girl game?

You can save as many files as you have room for, so yes, you can keep different saves for Boy and Girl versions. The differences are the obvious ones (like how you can only romance girls in the Boy version and boys in the Girl version), several events are different, and you cannot keep playing in the Girl version after you get married. There's a LOT more info about the Boy version available, a great deal of it in the site in my sig. This game was originally Harvest Moon: Back to Nature on the PS1.
