HOW TO FIX: Black Screen, then crash with "Spore has stopped working"

and a host of other issues.

Copy the contents of your "Spore" folder (including SporeBin and Data) to your hard drive, and run "SporeApp" that way. This will be either on your CD if you bought a hard copy, or whereever you downloaded the game to (I.E, if you used EA Download manager, the default is C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EADM\cache\ ).

This worked for me, hope it helps.

damn it didn't. I copied the folders from my cd to the hard drive and still a no go.

deleting the stars.db file in the game0 folder C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Application Data\SPORE\ (something like that) works for me. BUT WAIT!! It also makes Spore unable to read your saved games, so use with caution!!!

Easy fix..
turn down all levels to low.

EA...EA..zzz......wasted my time zzz..........hope a patch out soon and able to use the old stars.db.....i really lazy starting all over again ......
