1) Introduction
The FAQ was originally just a major update to Hollaplaya’s Pre-Release FAQ which was under the title of “Check This Out”. But after numerous updates the FAQ was no longer the FAQ created by Hollaplaya, so I decided to remake the topic as mine.

2) What’s New? [WHNE]
This is a sequel, and all good sequels have new stuff. In the following sections there will be a brief overview of the new stuff in Battlefront 2.

2a) Campaign Mode
In the brand new Story Mode you play as the 501st Legion or Vader’s Fist. They were Vader’s personal battalion of troopers, first seen marching with him to the Jedi temple. Where ever Vader went they were there. You’ll begin in the Clone Wars and end in the Galactic Civil War. More in Rise of the Empire section

2b) Jedi
That’s right you can play as a Jedi! Remember the NPC Jedi from the first battlefront that were invulnerable and were pretty much the same guy with different skin? Well that is a thing of the past. Each level has it’s own Jedi (some will share the same Jedi) which you can play as, to help make a difference to the battle. They will have different attacks and force powers (they won’t be doing that same crappy slash they use to), as well as unique abilities like force jumps and force sprints. To become a Jedi you must complete certain objectives, set by the game in campaign mode but by you in instant action. But the game will lose it’s balance I hear you say. Not so. The Jedi will have a dwindling life bar that you must keep up by attacking enemies. The bar will go down a lot if you kill a teammate (that ought to keep the team killers under control). The AI will also use Jedi against you. But it’s not just Jedi we can play as. There are other heroes that you can use such as Han Solo, General Grievous or Boba Fett. The full list of Jedi, Sith and heroes is below in section 3.

2c) Space
We have it, the ability to take to the stars in our own star ships. No star wars game is complete without battles in space and now we have them. The battles consist of Capital ships which serve as the main Command Posts for each side on either side of the map. In between these are destructible frigates. More in the How Does Space Work? section

2d) Maps
There are 12 new, bigger maps in this game. These maps are either brand new or updated from the first one (most of all Kashyyyk, which now looks like it did in ep3). You’ll be fighting in the new locations you saw in ep3 like Utapau or even Mustafar, as well as locations from the original trilogy that weren’t in the first battlefront, like Tantive IV (the ship that we first saw in ANH, the one with the bright white corridors) and Jabba’s Palace (which was only on xbox and pc first time round). In total there are no 18 land maps and 6 Space maps, making a grand total of 24 maps!

2e) Vehicles
‘OvO have you gone mad? There are vehicles in the first battlefront!’, is the reaction i expect from some of you, and you’d be right to say so. But there is a new feature with vehicles. Actually a couple. The first and most important are the inclusion of weak / critical hit points on the vehicles. Each vehicle will have a point that skilled rocket troops (or people in other vehicles) will be able to hit, taking a HUGE chunk of life from the vehicle, in some cases destroying it in one hit. This does not apply however to the space ships, except transport ships. The other cool new feature is a little thing called slicing. In english this is highjacking vehicles while the enemy still rides it. That's right, engineers and pilots will be able to use their fusion cutters to cut open a ships and steal it from the enemy while they pilot it.

2f) New Modes
There will be new modes to play with in battlefront 2. This will help to make the matches different, instead of just making all matches have the same objective.
The modes don't always apply to every map. some maps will have only a couple while others will have more available.

.Conquest Mode: this is standard swbf, capture all command posts or kill everybody

.Hunt Mode: Go around killing natives. Or you could also be a native and fight of the invading army. More on this in the natives section.

.Capture The Flag: one or two flags.

.Space Assault: In assault you don't capture command posts and there is no limit on reinforcements. The objective is to gain a certain amount of points by attacking frigates capital ships and other starships.

.Assault: Nothing but Jedi, Sith and Heroes . Mos Eisley only. Split into two teams, heroes and villains.

Anything else?
Improved online service with things like buddy lists and have updated the amount of people on one map, which has been increased to 24.

They have also improved other things:
.AI is better now, e.g. snipers will act like snipers, instead of running around on the front lines, or infantry will group together to form assault teams.

.Soldiers now have new abilities as well. We can now perform forward rolls and limited sprinting (quick bursts of speed that enable you to move fast but stops you using a weapon. You can also select whether you are locked onto someone or not when you play as a rocket troop.

.When issuing commands you point your reticle at the troop you want to follow you and you press UP on the D-Pad

.Galactic conquest has also been updated, more on that later.

3) Rise of the Empire [ROTE]
Rise of the Empire is the new name for historical campaign. In this we follow the story of the 501st. In this mode we start as the Clone Troopers and them Become the Storm Troopers. *The List of levels will be in the next version*
#5oblivion_666(Topic Creator)Posted 11/6/2005 10:09:27 AMmessage detail
4) Galactic Conquest [GACO]
Galactic Conquest has bee greatly improved, now it’s kinda like risk. Instead of just a screen that shows planets, planets are put onto a gameboard like map. You start the game on a friendly planet with a fleet, indicated by a capitalship. You move one space at a time, trying to conquer all the planets in the galaxy. The enemy also starts with a fleet and group planets and liek you moves accross the galaxy, taking planets. When it is your turn to move there are a number of things that you can do. You can chose to use your credits to buy a new fleet over a friendly planet, recuit new units (when you first start you only have regular infantry for ground and pilots for space) or buy a bonus. The bonuses offer special abilities for battles e.g. increased armour, enchanced blasters, hero or auto turrets, just to name a few. Or if you want you could just skip buying anything and just move to the next space, or just skip the entire go. When you land on a enemy planet you are allowed to choose an already purchased bonus or just go straight to invasion. If you win the battle then the planet becomes yours. The same applies to the enemy. If the invading army loses the battle (either you or your enemy) then the fleet used to attack i is destroyed. If you move to a planet that has an enemy fleet docked over it then you will have to particpate in a space battle before attacking the planet, which will take place in the next turn (if you are successful in deafeating the enemy fleet). Once again the same applies to the enemy. There are also spaces on the map that have no planets, allowing you to just rest and not worry about invading another planet. If the enemy meets you in this planetless space then a space battle will ensue. To win Galactic Conquest you must destroy all enemy fleets and take over all enemy planets.

5) How Do Space Battles Work? [HDSW]
In space the objective is not to lower the enemy’s reinforcements. Instead a certain amount of points must be earned. You can earn points by by attacking destroying certain things:
.Turrets and Cannons
. Starfighters
. Frigates

Capital Ship parts to destroy:
. Engines (can be done externally or internally by destroying thier engine cooling systems).
. Life Support Systems (internally or externally)
. Auto Turret Mainframe (internal)
. Sensor Relay (external)
. Communications Array (external)
. Command Bridge (external)

In order to destroy external parts you first need to destroy the shield. This can be done in two ways; constantly bombard the ship until shields fail; fly inside and then destroy the shield generator. The shields can be put back online by repairing the generator with fusiion cutters.
