It is making high pitched and grinding noises. I cleaned it all out and still does it. This has been going on for the last month or so but I though my old desktop PC was making this sound. Do I need to replace the power brick? if so, you think running the 360 this last month with a bad power brick could of damaged it? Can I buy a new power brick? (i could search this, so skip if you want)

I know this power brick pretty much controls the whole 360. I know it is not something to mess around with. This is a very boring topic and yes I could search but I'm search retarded.

Thank you for taking the time to read and help.

i did find some info but they say as long as the light is green it's fine. I do not buy that. I know a enough about electronics to know if this power brick is not sending a level voltage or what not it can also break your 360.

one last bump for this boring topic

really, last bump. I'm trying to buy one on ebay and they all look shady and cheap. I found this one for 25 bucks but something seems off:

I see used ones on there that do not look shady but why would I want used. Damn this is one big nightmare and confusing. If any had to replace their power supply and you know where you can find a brand new one for the slim model made by MS that would be a big help.

thanks but i know what will happen. i will have to return it to them and wait a month only to get some repaired 360 that is not the one I sent in. I have had to do this a couple times but now I avoid it. When I have extra cash I just buy a new one now. The problem is I do not at this time.

I had the exact problem. Bought a new power brick from MS for $30. Click on the link near the bottom to order one.

My freaking god, could this get any harder? i follow all the steps and it gives me two options for a power supply. both for my model. The problem? one is 35 bucks and the other is free. What the hell? these are my options:

Power Supply 135W\110V - Black

SKU: 5046
Device: Xbox360S

Purchase (SEN)
Price: 35.00 USD

Add item to your cart

Power Supply & Power Cord 135W\110V

SKU: 5028
Device: Xbox360S

Replacement (EXC)
Price: 0.00 USD

What on earth do i pick? of course the free one looks good but the description and other details are different. Please can someone tell me what one to pick? I do not like dealing with MS support as I know somehow I will end up sending my whole damn system in.

Thank you.

Take the free one then if it doesn't work buy the 35 dollar one. Or just get the free one when it comes in compare it to your original then decide to try it or not.
King of Fighters 13 online versus demo available in game marketplace. Amazing game.

I had that for years. I sent my 360 to get repaired back in 2008, and when I got it back, I had that same high pitched noise coming from the power brick. I called them, they said if the light is green then it is fine. I got used to the noise, and never had any problems.

I recently bought a Slim on Craigslist, and I realized how quiet the 360 can be. But honestly man, I wouldn't worry about it. At least you won't accidentally leave your console on, and that was not sarcastic. I leave my Slim on sometimes, I never left my older one on.
