So, I bought the new Star Wars LE bundle and everything was working out nicely... except for this. It states that there is something keeping the sensor from moving, but there's nothing in the way and it's on a flat surface. Does this sound like a mechanical problem? Also, any truth to the Kinect being a stickler on furniture or other obstructions?

It could possibly be complaining that it can't see the floor. Try the following:
1) Move the Kinect to the edge of whatever table you have it on, and see if it can calibrate. 2) Make sure the Kinect isn't on a sloped surface 3) If during calibration the camera does not move at all and a message comes up saying the camera is obstructed, could be a problem with the motor of the unit you have. In that case, I would definitely just return it to get a new one.
Hope that helps. --- Gamertag: Squ4rex ***Xbox XDK/Natal Platform*** (PIX / Xbox Studio Tester)

Is the white neck brace still on the Kinect?
Did you tilt the sensor at all by hand? --- "What does it do? That's the beauty of it, it doesn't DO anything."
