Any good martial arts/kung fu style games out there?

#1GuitarJozzPosted 5/20/2012 11:21:21 PM
I just finished watching the Drunken Master movie with Jackie Chan(the one from 1978), and I was wondering if there were any good martial arts or kung fu style games out there?

Something more along the lines of a rpg style game though, instead of a pure fighting game, although suggest anything you think is good either way.

Thanks!

Kung Fu - PSX
Jackie Chan Stuntmaster - PS2
Rise to Honor - PS2 (not an RPG, but a nice representation of Hong Kong cinema in a video game)

The best game matching that description I've played is a PS1 game called Shao Lin.

It's a Kung-Fu RPG and plays very much like one of the old Kung-Fu films, more so than Jade Empire.

The only problem is that it was only released in Europe and Japan, but if you can play PAL PS1 games it's well worth picking up a cheap copy from Amazon:

It's pretty overpriced, but there's Invincible Tiger on XBLA, I love that game.

While not martial arts, perhaps you would like the "Way of the Samurai" games?

Also, if you have a PS3 and could tolerate all-Japanese language with 0 English, you could import Yakuza : Kenzan which is really what you are looking for.

Tekken and Virtual Fighter, I know they are fighters but out side of that genre there's not much that can come as close to a true martial arts style.

Well, the UFC games are objectively the best and most accurate representation of true martial arts.

I disagree, they are great for submissions, but not so much for any other part of Martial Arts.
