xbox won't read my flash drive

did they change something? I'm just using it on the video player to watch a video. I've used this flash drive plenty in the past, now the portable device isn't even selectable.

just checked, my flash drive is formatted to ntfs system. do I need to format it to fat or fat32 to play videos off the device?

Has to be formatted by the 360.

Or not. Idk.

Mine works fine so nothing changed in terms of them being usable.

I seem to recall that it needs to be FAT-32
Not really sure about it though...

Correct, USB devices must be formatted as some form of FAT to play media on the 360, the 360 does not support NTFS, or any other file system type.

AFAIK, FAT32 specifically is only required for configuring the device as a Memory Unit for the 360.

Not FAT32, The Xbox uses it's own variant of FATX to avoid fragmentation.

Well that's only if he's going to use it as a memory unit, I thought he just wanted to play video or Audio files off the usb stick?

Also, the formatting to fatx is done by the 360, and only on whatever part of the usb-stick you choose.
