My Brother told me he bought a 2800 points card in the US. He's coming home so i need to find out if its usable or if he should return it.

They don't sell 2800 point cards in the US.
Just 1600 and 4000. haha

Well, since the US doesn't have 2800 point cards, he probably bought a Canadian card anyway.

The US has 1600 ($20 USD) and 4000 ($50 USD) point cards.

As for the actual question, no, afaik, point cards can only be used in the country they are from, or at least, by an account from the country the card is from.

The answer is no. You need to make an American account to spend them. However, you'll still be able to play them with your Canadian account after doing so. Just make sure you remember the info of the American account in case you get a new 360 and need to do a liscence transfer of whatever was downloaded on that account.

Yes you can.
European points usually work in American console and vice versa so I don't see a problem with the Canadian ones!

MS points are countries and continent specific.

XBL is not.

I shoulda opened an US account when I first got my console because U.S. is the BEST.

No. On the back of a points card you'll see fine print stating that countries use only. I tried to give my buddy in New York a Canadian points card and it was a no go.

You can make a US account though and redeem the points and buy whatever you want. All DLC is connected to the console, not just the gamertag, so ALL gamertags/users on the same console have access to ALL DLC .

I do it myself. But 4000 pts online for 43 CDN, and redeem it with my US account. Saves me big time seeing as 2800 after taxes is nearly 46 CDN.

Only downside is with Deals of the week. My US account is not a Gold account, but it works great for the hundreds of RB songs I've boughten in the past.
