Disc drive failure?

#1begin_the_beginPosted 7/28/2011 1:40:12 PM
I've recently been having issues where, no matter what game I had in my 360, it would be unable to detect that anything was there and only prompted me to open the tray. For a month or so, this was fixable by turning the xbox off, removing the harddrive, starting the xbox, and waiting for the game to load. Then you could turn the xbox off again, pop the harddrive back on, and start playing. This fix recently stopped working though, and I can't find any other miracle fixes to get it to work again. Any ideas?

Hit the top while it's loading. For reals.

I read that was a potential fix somewhere about a month ago before I found the harddrive removal fix, but I couldn't get it to work. I'll go give it another try.

Well look at that, punching my xbox half a dozen times after I turned it on actually worked :p

Is this going to be something I need to do every time I try to play a game? Or does it somehow cause the drive to reset itself?

I found I only had to do it every few months.
