Mentalpatient87Posted 8/12/2011 4:56:59 PM | Now, I picked up the Slim+Kinect bundle last X-mas, and so far I feel like I've been duped into buying the Eye Toy all over again... I don't want to dance or exercise, and I'm not six, so none of these games appeal to me. When the tech was being hyped up I saw so many possibilities, but just like the PS2 counterpart (and the Wii, now that I think of it) it has failed to meet my expectations. I mean, I know Milo was all smoke and mirrors, and I wasn't expecting the world from this thing, but at least one game worth buying with a purple box would do wonders.
What follows is my list of games, genres, and ideas that could be rebooted or made into sequels to utilize this stupid black eye that does random crap to Netflix unless I unplug it...
Sim City Rollercoaster Tycoon Command and Conquer (myriad other RTS titles) Black and White Road Rash (I really, really, really want a new RR) A resurgence of point and click adventures Lemmings Worms From Dust would've been better with Kinect
What I don't care for is picking dialogue options or some other pithy little tacked-on crap like that..
Any other ideas are appreciated. Nobody's doing jack with Eye Toy 2: Xbox Boogaloo, but we can all dream, right? --- <slightly muffled> "Hell yeah, who doesn't wanna be Johnny Gat?" |

Stop getting carried away with all the gimmicks Kinect can do....lets see the real deal with what it can do in actual game design. Those are more than worth it. |

Even the RTS games? The ones that are unplayable with sticks, but great fun with a mouse or other pointer-type interface... --- <slightly muffled> "Hell yeah, who doesn't wanna be Johnny Gat?" |

I don't really see how anyone paying attention could have been "duped". I always felt Microsoft was pretty straight forward about who they were targeting.
Sure, there was a lot of PR talk about the tech's versatility... but that's the case with all new consoles and peripherals. |
natevinesPosted 8/12/2011 5:54:44 PM | Maybe RTS would work with Kinect, I dunno. But I keep seeing people proposing it, and I wonder 'why'. I always thought the Kinect was about immersion, i.e putting yourself in the character's position. Using your hands to move units on a field seems silly. --- Gamertag- MidgetRifleman |
