I read your whiny post and it appears that you're playing the commodore 64 version of Battlefield. No wonder you can't connect through EA... EA was in diapers in 1987.

Try this, there's a 14mb title update (not the 1.6gb one) in the BC2 section on the memory tab, go there and delete it, boot the game up, redownload and see if it works. I had trouble with it for the past two days, but I tried deleting the title update and it worked perfectly afterwords.
