Xbox Live account just hacked.

#1StrifeXeroPosted 9/3/2011 7:58:56 AM
Hey everyone I would look out. My brother's Xbox live account was just hacked. It happen to have my credit card information on it and the charges we're made this morning. He just received a conformation email about the purchases and seeing as how he has the Xbox he knew he didn't make them.

Just a heads up to everyone.

A heads up for what? That we shouldn't give our information to anybody or have "12345" as our passwords?

Luckily, mine is 54321. I probably shouldn't have told you that. I will change it to my back up plan, ABCDE later.

So the combination is... one, two, three, four, five? That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard in my life! The kind of thing an idiot would have on his luggage!

A heads up that someone could have your credit card info. But hey I guess when you're old enough to stop cracking Internet jokes and have your own credit card with a credit score, and have to earn your own money you'll get what I'm talking about. Until then, good day sir.

Sorry, but you were not hacked. You were phished. Or had easy to guess information. Or used the same password on another site and that site was hacked.

The jokes were basically saying that this is basic internet security, having strong passwords and not falling for phishing scams is the way to avoid this.

Or are you suggesting that Xbox live was hacked? That they gained access to MS servers and stole information?

A lot of this recent xbox live 'hacking' I think has come from all those gaming sites that got hacked and released peoples login info. A lot of people use the same login info for xbox live as they do for different websites.

It's not smart but a lot of people don't assume something like that would ever happen to them until it does.
