My XBL Gold 1yr subscription ends 9/15 which I purchased using a credit card. If I purchase a 1 month card from, let's say gamestop, will that turn off my auto-renewal once that 1 month expires?

On xbox.com, change your billing address to somewhere in Illinois, and then the option to turn off auto-renew will pop up. Trust me, it works.

It will turn off and you will just get a notice that your membership is about to expire after the month and it will ask if you want to renew.

I don't know if it applies to everyone but I got a pretty good discount (35 dollars) when my subscription auto-renewed a couple of months ago.
