Few questions regarding old 360

I'm planning on getting a bigger hard drive. A few questions:

1. Would I be able to just transfer my game saves and gamertag via USB flash drive, and still be able to download the stuff I purchased before free?

2. Would the new hard drive work on an old 360 model?

3. If I buy a used hard drive, should I be worried of a "hard drive ban"?

1) Yes.
2) Not if it's designed for the slim. Technically you can make a case for it out of foam, but out of the box no, it won't work.
3) Kinda? MS has said that they can/will ban for using Third Party Harddrives but they never have in the past. It's your call.

1. Yes; I got a bigger hard drive for Christmas last year and easily transferred everything over.

2. No, the new "slim" model has a new design for the hard drive.

3. I doubt you'll be banned for buying a hard drive.
