Would you guys consider buying a new Plasma tv thats only at 720p 600hz for game

I was at Best Buy earlier today looking at tv's. I found a Plasma Samsung, 51inch 720p 600hz tv that was as bright as an LED LCD tv. This thing was priced at $649.99
The picture was as good if not better than the 1080p tvs next to it. My question is, is 1080p really worth paying $500.00 more? Would I even be able to tell the difference?

Im seriously considering it because its:

- 600hz which is crazy fast!
- Super cheap!
- As bright as an LCD LED tv, which is what i wanted to get originally

Reasons why I wouldnt get it:
- Its plasma, and I thought Plasmas were supposed to be phased out.
- Only 720p

Here is a link to the tv I want to get:

That TV is exceptional. However the 600hz is overkill, its still nice.

Most video games don't run in 1080p, though they might next gen, 720p is still really good, 1080p is only a slight upgrade.

I own a 42" 1080p 60hz LCD and it works perfectly. I'd imagine a 720p 600hz working great too.

Most Xbox 360 are not native 1080p anyways. You wont notice a difference.

What!? 1920x1080 is more than a slight upgrade from 1280x720...

I love my LG Plasma but just to clarify, I do believe the 600mhz is explained that there are 10 sub fields on the tv, each field has a rate of 60 hz , 60 x 10 = 600.

Yeah the 600hz thing is just a marketing ploy. Pay no attention to it.

As for whether or not you should get it... idk. I mean 720p is fine for now, especially if youre just gonna be playing games on it and not watching blu rays or anything.. but in the future it will be far behind.

Im sure you could find a decently priced 1080p plasma around. Look at panasonics they are great for the price usually (always look up reviews for the model though, dont just go by brand).

plasma + video games = more potential burn in.

It's up to you if you want to take that risk.
I wouldn't do it.

Go lcd or led.
Led TVs don't get nearly as hot as lcd monitors and the picture is better to boot.

^ Ignore that.

Image Retention? Yes but most is hardly noticeable and fades away within minutes. Burn-in is not impossible but far more unlikely. I have had my plasma for over a year that I do all my gaming on and I don't have a speck of burn in .

I cannot stand any image retention.

And even though I would want 1080p now anyways, I would definitely be looking at it for next generation anyways. I have no idea why anybody would still buy a 720p TV.

It's not bad, but there are better TVs for the price.
