Slim Disc Drive question

#1RulerZodPosted 9/27/2011 1:23:16 AM
I got my slim in July. whenever a disc starts or stops spinning, like when you head back to the dashboard, it makes this half second grind/gear sound with the disc.

and now especially more so with gears 3, but that could be the new xgd3 format.

anyways, I've never had any problems booting up, recognizing, or playing any games.

But I get paranoid easily, so anyways is this normal, My other white living room 360 makes a similar noise when starting to read a disc, just not as jarring of a sound.

simply though, should I be worried? or is it fine/normal

sounds normal to me

however my 360 did do something new recently when i was playing gears 3
it started sounding loud, as if the game was not installed for the first 2 minutes of gameplay

only towards the end of the game though

still i'll be keeping an eye out on future purchases

that first 2-3 minutes is because of the xgd3 format. mines installed too.I do all my games

but my 360 makes a weird grind sound when it starts to spin that my white 360 didnt.

I hope every new game doesnt start this gears 3 crap cause of the xgd3 format.

I'll be keeping an eye out too, hopefully Batman Arkham City will run smoother.

Its always read discs no problems ever, just wanted to see if I could fix or make that grind sound more smooth sounding, so I sprayed compressed air into the open tray. the damn compressed air can shot a bunch of quickly evaporating foam into my 360.

I hope it didnt hurt my 360 but my disc drive is a running smoother without the grind sound whenever it starts or stops.
