I'm not saying there's evidence; I'm saying that -- as we all know -- when people are pissed about something they often tend to describe the situation in extremes or exaggerate things in order to get the idea across to the audience that their anger is totally justified, and also to fish for empathy and support from others. Odds are better that that's the case than the opposite.

Psh, the <blink> tag is something Fox News would use. It's silliness.

Those who are pissed also likely had longer wait times. I thought it was merely a nuisance before I had my 20 minute wait. Then I reflected a bit more and came to the conclusion that it was a dick move to require a call at all. Either way, this isn't going to get us anywhere. You're right that people are more likely to exaggerate about long wait times. That wasn't the point I was trying to make. I'm simply arguing that one shouldn't default to assuming people are exaggerating.

No, you're right, people shouldn't automatically assume that. A lot of times, though, the way people describe things, the attitude they carry off in their accounts, and the bitterness of what they're saying can give you clues.

I can't say I agree that we shouldn't have to call to make changes to our accounts like that. If it was as easy as simply accessing those things on our consoles, then we'd have plenty of topics ragging on that, and probably a lot more issues with people claiming their accounts and payment options were mistakenly cancelled. Perhaps if we were each given a numerical code to enter over the phone and access our account options as part of an automated process (no waiting for operators), then it would be simpler for everyone (of course, if people forgot or lost their code, they'd have to go the operator route).

There is no excuse to make it that difficult, greedy M$ is just taking advantage of law loopholes
