L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition releases Nov.15

#1Cole531Posted 10/20/2011 6:09:01 AM
That was quick, I suppose with the demise of the dev team we can expect no more DLC either.

L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition is coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 15th in North America (and November 18th elsewhere), just a week after the game debuts on PC. And like the PC game, The Complete Edition comes packed with every piece of DLC released thus far.

The bonus cases stacked atop your desk/disc include "The Nicholson Electroplating," "The Consul's Car," "Reefer Madness," "The Naked City" and "A Slip of the Tongue." They cover the arson, vice and traffic beats, and are offered alongside The Badge Pursuit Challenge and all unlockable outfits and weapons.

There's also a new prologue that explains why Cole Phelps transforms into Sergeant Frank Drebin every time he gets behind the wheel of a car.

lol, came in to say 'that was quick." Yeah, and the overall crap sales compared to cost couldn't have helped, they've got to try to recoup somehow.

But L.A. Noire sold very well.

It did sell well, but the production costs were enormous. The numbers that would have been sufficient for most other games to be financially successful just didn't cut it for LA Noire. Numbers-wise, it apparently wasn't considered a success at R*.

I disagree. I think it sold really well, and that Rockstar new it wouldn't reach GTA/RDR levels, but it would do great.

I think this is basically to capitalize on the L.A. Noire name while it is still somewhat hot, and because there will never be another piece of DLC for this game again since Rockstar and the developer are not talking to each other.

I'm only taking what I heard from an episode of Feedback some time ago, Sessler was talking about R*'s overall disappointment in the game's performance-- someone had apparently been vocal about it. I'm not sure who they're referencing, obviously the devs might be pleased, but executives might not be. It's hard to say.

To be fair, they were probably vocal to cover up the fact that their relationship with Team Bondi was fractured and terrible. So they make it sound like Bondi didn't do a good job, or that L.A. Noire wasn't a good IP idea.

Basically, either way (no matter how well it sold) they can say that they were disappointed, and make it look like losing Team Bondi wasn't a big thing at all.
