Am I the only person who doesn't mind "more of the same"?

Sequels should not be more of the same. They should be familiar in some ways, but still feel like a new experience. Can you imagine a world where Super Mario Bros. 3 basically played like Super Mario Bros. with new mobs? What if Street Fighter II were more of the same of the original Street Fighter? More of the same is how things devolve into three iterations of Street Fighter II with no real improvements. Screw that.

Now i think I'm being taken a little bit more literally than I would have liked.
Things like Street Fighter II having three iterations is not what i meant by more of the same. That is unacceptable by all means.
All I'm really saying is that a sequel to a game should not get bashed for being like the previous entry. But at the same time more of the same doesn't mean i don't want some improvements and/or upgrades. You need a healthy balance of both.

But the first one was good, and the second one sucked.

The first one was okay. The second one was great.
