Haven't really enjoyed a racing game of my type since '08, (Burnout Paradise, those were the good ol days) and the game has certainly got a bit dry. The Need for Speed Hot pursuit and The Run that came out recently were nice games to just play until the next Burnout comes out, but without it anywhere on the Horizon, I gotta find something else to play.

I decided to add Driver:San Francisco to my GameQ on gamefly, and I was thinking of trying Split/Second, is there anything else I should try out there?

That made Nintendo's E3 for me.

Test drive unlimited 2 - it had bugs when it came out, but after 3 updates it seems better and they added bikes.

Give Hydro Thunder a chance if you're allowing for non-car racing games.

You're talking about Midnight Club:LA? Yeah I was thinking about that one too. Is Hydro Thunder a XBLA game, I'll download the trial and see how it is.

That would be the one.

I remember having a lot of fun with that one.

Yep, Hydro Thunder is an arcade game, was part of Summer of Arcade a couple of years ago.

Midnight Club: LA is a good choice as well.

edit: You could hold off for a sale on Hydro Thunder (it is an absolute steal at 600 points), but I think it was recently discounted so it might be a bit.

TC, nothing comes close to Paradise for pure fun IMO. I agree your choices are limited if you don't want more sim style.

The only thing MCLA does better than Paradise is car customization. Everything else is inferior IMO - track layout, variety of things to do, frame rate, general fun.

You may also consider the Grid series. It's basically lap racing but it isn't a sim.

If you have PS3, there's Wipeout on PSN which is good value to begin with and is often on sale too.

Blur is supposed to be pretty good.

I highly recommend Driver SF first. It's the most fun I've had in a racing game in a long time.

MCLA, Grid, and TDU2 are decent suggestions as well.
