Best internet connection for xbox live?

#1BigWeezy18Posted 8/23/2012 6:32:40 PM
Would my connection for xbox live be better with an ethernet cable connection (75ft) or thru wifi?

I've seen threads here saying wired is better for multiplayer.

im thinking it would be if the cable is like 6 to 9 ft, but 75ft might still give me some serious lag

Lol no. You can go up to 200ft before you would have any issues.

A wired Ethernet connection is definitely better. Cat 5 Ethernet cable will go like 250ft. before the signal start to degrade, and Cat 6 will go even further.

If its a viable option, a CAT 5 cable is always the best choice. wifi is for convenience, not for speed.

Cable length is negligible with all of the other factors between your console and the one you're communicating with.
