is the xbox supposed to do this?

so I got a slim last year so was able to use hdmi since my fat was a pre hdmi console. If I turn the xbox on while it's on another input, the xbox won't actually boot up until I switch to that input.

also if I'm watching Netflix and switch input and go back to the xbox, the Netflix shuts off.. haven't tried with a game tho. is this normal?

Yes. When using HDMI, the Xbox queries the TV to supply some basic information about the set. If the TV isn't on the input, it's not listening for the Xbox's request and therefore makes the Xbox wait.

Sometimes mine will do this as well because you are not on the HDMI input it is not making a "digital connection" and can turn netflix off

Happens in Netflix every time you change input. sometimes my xbox will turn all the way on, sometimes not when not on the input
