This generation or the last? Which have you enjoyed more?

Last generation for consoles, this one for handhelds. Don't really count Vita and 3DS as being this gen but the start of the upcoming. Vita and 3DS have failed to impress me so far and PSP brought me a lot of games from my favorite developer so that's going to be hard to top when my favorite game is for PSP.

I just feel that for consoles this generation was about making things shiny and not so much making games that were actually enjoyable. And it really lacked in good RPGs compared to last gen.

Last gen.

MS gave a crap and did everything they could to please they're fans.

Sony had the PS2 with an insane number of quality titles.

The GC was dead by the end of the first year in Australia, but it still had a bunch of good games.

Far better ratio of fantasy to realistic games.

Far better diversity in genres.

RPG's where still made to please RPG fans and not to lure in a new, casual fanbase.

JRPGs weren't dead.

No DLC for PS2 or GC games, and most DLC for Xbox games was in the form of decent sized expansions.

I still have yet to play an online game as awesome as SOCOM + story amazing as Snake Eater. Mass Effect was good, but not matched.

MGS4 came closest to snake eaters brilliance and nothing beats unreal 2k4

Each has their perks, but I'm going with last gen for its stronger RPG library.

That's because they shifted focus from solid gameplay and replay-value to flashy set-pieces and online play to distract you from the fact that what you're playing is basically zero replay-value crap. It's no wonder games are down to $20 within 3 months these days, they have no staying power or value to consumers.

This gen, other than maybe Bioware's or Bethesda's games, I'd be hard pressed to name a game that doesn't depend on online play that's worth keeping or even worth a 2nd playthrough.

Last gen (PS2) and the generation before that one (PS1), and the generation before that one (Sega Mega Drive/Genesis) were the best so far.

I enjoyed my gamecube last gen alot more than I did the wii even though I do like the wii but the gamecube had a better selection's of first party titles like f-zero star fox. As for the xbox I didn't get to play it online much expect for halo 2 which was awsome but id say 360 was better for me. The dreamcast and ps2 were by far the best part last gen for me.

It's practically a tie for me.

I enjoy last gen, there were no DLC's; the complete game was shipped out the first time around. You could cheat in the game-single player- and there'd be no repercussions. Using a gameshark-type device made my rpgs go a helluva lot faster.
