Are there any real arguments why PC gaming isn't better?

To address the points of cost as people are still clueless.

A new pc that can play games as good as a console I expect would cost 300-400, including an xbox360 controller to go with it. Yes people pc's can use xbox360 controllers.

These 1200usd prices are based on cutting edge hardware, a cutting edge pc is probably 6-8x as powerful as an xbox360. A gtx 460 is more powerful than the xbox360 and that can be had now for under 100, ram is dirt cheap, latest gen cpu not needed as most games use GPU not CPU so can get even a core i3 and be good enough. If say in 3 years the gpu is showing its age you dont need to go and buy a entire new pc, just replace the gpu.

Some people in this thread have got it so wrong on cost.

And the fans of each console give each other far more crap than we do.

Jesus, the amount of anger I see between 3DS and Vita fans, as well as 360 and PS3 fans. Then the Wii owners get **** on by just about everyone.

Good point. You got more 3DS owners on the Vita board than their own. Same for 360 on PS3. Wii, everyone just uses as the town dartboard.

Here is a list of OBJECTIVE pros and cons for PC and consoles

PC:
+Better graphics
+Only platform that is good for RTS and MMOs
+Frequent sales on good recent games (admittedly, I don't search around for console games, I'm only saying PC has them, not that consoles don't)
+Much better suited for other tasks
+Upgradable. Looking more in terms of storage and peripherals. Leads into...
+More input options. Keyboard + mouse? Sure. Gamepad? Sure. Flight Stick? Sure. Pick the best or preferred option for each game.
-Drivers CAN be problematic (looking at things like AMD + Rage driver issues)
-DRM similar to what ubisoft has a massive hardon for

Consoles:
+Small footprint.
+Splitscreen (although this seems to be going away slowly :()
+Used games (Not getting into the debate on used games vs piracy)
+Guaranteed compatibility. (I know pretty much any game will run on my PC, average joe might not)
+Simplicity. PCs are rather simple these days, but consoles still take the crown here
-Paying extra for online (applies more to 360)
-Lack of dedicated servers for many games

Now can we sit down, admit they both have pros and cons and get along?

Console gaming peasent and PC gaming master race are jokes btw... And the fans of each console give each other far more crap than we do.

List is not objective. Upgrades are a bad thing because a significant upgrade will likely cost you the same as a new console.

Significant upgrades come about as frequently as a new console, honestly. I wouldn't consider a video card all that significant and it comes about every two or three years.

ArthasReborn, no way. A xbox720 (console upgrade) will easily cost more than a GPU upgrade.

I listed it as a pro just because there is the option. I just upgraded my processor because I was unhappy with performance. Everything was still playable, but far from optimal. On the console, I'd be SOL until the next generation.

Dark Souls. Oh god, Dark Souls. It was a pain in the ass to get through certain areas, and some boss fights with a lot of effects going on would kill the framerate.

i was a console gamer my hole life until now. i find console developers are getting greedy, always selling unfinished games, having to wait way to long to get the next patch. but i guess the main thing for me is mods, especially in games like minecraft, or dayz.

If you have a console and that console happens to be an Xbox 360 or PS3 then it has gone through major changes in the past 6 to 7 years

Uh....that's just it. No it has not :\

Through software updates, yes it has. I'm not talking about upgraded hardware. Did you seriously think I meant that the newer consoles were more powerful or made better graphics or something?
