Are there any real arguments why PC gaming isn't better?

Mods are cool as well, don't get me wrong, but... they're really more of an afterthought than an actual point. Anyone who is going to use mods as the deciding factor on any game is likely to obsessed with them to be a reliable source of judgement on them.

Mods can do a lot for a game. Mount and Blade, for example, while fun, is kind of bland outside of the combat. Mods can add entire factions and even firearms. Oblivion has its fair share of issues. Mods turn what I feel is a rather mediocre game into a fantastic one.

Or you have community fixes, such as the resolution fix for Dark Souls as well as those massive community patches for Oblivion after Bethesda dropped support, and restoration projects, like putting back all the stuff that had to be cut out in KOTOR2.

they're really more of an afterthought than an actual point.

an afterthought like DLC, maybe?

however, the difference is that you don't have to pay to get extra content for your PC games with far more variety and potential like whole games, game types and genres overall(team fortress, dota, various zombie modes, gungame etc.):!

mods are anything but an afterthought seeing as devs don't release their kits to the public just for kicks and we've seen way too many examples of the genius that some of these people possess.

don't think you(or console gamers for that matter) can relate at all?
where do you think the much talked about day z (and war z) on PC and both console boards came from? it certainly didn't come from the developers of the game.

in fact the release of day z saw a major boost in sales for arma 2 in the same way tons of people bought half-life 1 just to get access to counter-strike.

i cannot even fathom the amount of ignorance one must possess(as showcased above in a sarcastic manner) to dare question the amount of original content/software that PC gaming has been(and still is) responsible for and to dismiss the concept of mods as an afterthought is almost as bad:
If console gaming is so cheap then why do I have to spend $600~ in order to play Super Mario Galaxy, Uncharted 3 and Halo 3?
